As of today at 1:50 PM, I crossed proverbial finish line for the Story-a-Day challenge. On my lunch break at work I scribbled furiously into my notebook. Finished writing story #31 and so completed this amazing challenge.
As with anything else, there are some definite mixed feelings. Joy at having persevered and finished the challenge. Awe that such a thing can be accomplished. Relieved, a little, that it’s over. Sad to see it go. Proud to have conquered writer’s block.
But no matter the mixed emotions, I’m throwing my arms in the air and running a victory lap. It’s been an amazing ride. I’ve learned a lot about inspiration and perseverance. And that sometimes a prompt doesn’t always speak to you – but if you stare at it long enough you can make it work.
I want to say a huge thank you to anyone and everyone who stopped by to read my stories, spoke a word of encouragement or maybe just thought “heck yes, that’s cool.”
I totaled my word count for all 31 stories, and it reached 23,832 words.
I could not be happier.
I will definitely be signing up again next year.
