Story-A-Day Challenge

Story-a-Day May 2013 – Month in Review

I’m a bit late reporting in after the end of Story-a-Day May.  You can blame that on moving into a new house.  It does tend to interrupt the flow of things.  On to the specifics!

First, I’ll start by giving the details of Week 5 — the final week of the challenge.

31 of 31 Stories Written

Week 5 Words Written: 9,749

Total Word Count (Month So Far): 80, 976

Average Words Per Day (To Date): 2,612

Week 5 Story Titles:

  • Decrescendo
  • The Grandchildren of God
  • Stronger Than the Call of Shadows
  • He Who Denies Death His Due
  • Her Pregnant Song

So, in total during the month of May — in case you missed it in the numbers up there — I wrote 80,976 words of fiction.  That’s 967 words more than last year’s challenge.  But what I’m more excited about is the larger number of stories that I wrote which I believe have promise.  I’m very excited about editing these stories and getting them sent out.  I have high hopes for them.

This challenge is always difficult, but so worth it.  I’d like to say thanks to everyone who read my stories, commented, and/or just offered a word of encouragement or support.  You guys rock! 🙂

  1. Dear Alexis,

Firstly, my apologies for posting this here, as I couldn’t find your email address.

Forgotten Tomb Press just recently opened submissions for Miseria’s Chorale, a non-paying horror anthology to be headlined by some of the best writers from around the world.

Since we do not have much in the way of exposure, we are busy personally inviting contributors. We would like to make this project into something special, and we believe your talent could greatly bolster the anthology.

Please have a look at the short, concise submission guidelines for Miseria’s Chorale:

    Current Lineup:

    – Becoming The Beast by Christian A. Larsen
    – Visit by Richard Godwin
    – Because The Night Is Dark And Full Of Monsters by Sergio Palumbo
    – Give Me Convenience by Shaun Meeks
    – King of a Distant Star by Tim Jeffreys
    – The Wind by Ryan Neil Falcone
    – Thrall by Richard Farren Barber
    – Untitled by Adam Millard

If you are interested in being a part of this for-the-love project, we eagerly anticipate your entry. Thank you for your time.

    1. Hello David!

Thank you for the opportunity and the invitation. However, I’m afraid I only submit to paying markets. I do appreciate, as I said, the opportunity, as well as the fact that you were very upfront about it being a non-paying market. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and best of luck to you with Miseria’s Chorale!

  2. Wow Alexis, congrats on a rockin’ Story a Day. You are absolutely wicked, and I look forward to reading your previous blog posts/rough drafts when I have more time. I can’t believe you did all that while you were moving–that’s dedication! ❤

    1. Thanks, man! Glad to help in the group. 🙂 Nah…I think I’m going to sit September out. I’ve got more than enough stories to fill my ‘catalog’, lol. Shifting into editing mode here shortly. 🙂
